Every brewer started by home brewing. It’d be dumb not to. Patrick Dunn did it, too, starting in 2008. Around 2010, he started brewing a little more consistently, yadda yadda yadda, owning a commercial brewery became more and more of a possibility.
Fast forward to 2013, when Patrick enlisted the help of his wife, Laura, and father, Mike. Pat brews, Laura businesses, and Mike keeps the two of them in line. The trio had the idea that a 3.5 barrel brewery in a storage container on Lincoln Blvd in Santa Monica would be a smart way to start off, but when they looked into it, the city said it would take years and the fees would be astronomical. Thus, they decided a more “logical” approach would be to open a 15-barrel brewery, set in a castle by the Burbank airport. Sure, why not?
Even though it’s not on Lincoln Blvd. anymore, the idea of Abraham Lincoln being a President who was “Always Moving Forward” made the name stick, and Lincoln Beer Company opened on November 17, 2017.
